Salary / Remuneration Information
(including any travel and training allowances)

$72,000 CDN per year (includes stipend for backup call). Training/Travel Allowances: $10, 000 CDN per year (subject to approval). Reimbursement of CMPA malpractice insurance.

The key details

Number of theatre and clinic sessions per week:

  • In general 90% clinical, 10% research
  • Fellow clinic: 1 day/2 weeks
  • Research: ½ day/week
  • Theatres: All non-clinic and research sessions

 

Expected/planned involvement in on-call/OOH cover:

  • Weekday daytime on calls for NICU referrals to fellow-grade.
  • OOH 2nd On-call, backing up first-year residents, around 1:6 weekdays and weekends.

 

Expected number of cases over the fellowship and of what type:

  • Exposure case mix of a tertiary/quaternary care level

 

Daily start and end of day rounds with residents.

Regular engagement with educational sessions, weekly departmental teaching, M&M presentations.

Fellows are expected to present a research paper at the annual Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Percy Ireland Research Day and at a national/international conference.
