More about the fellowship

Here, the current incumbent, Chris Thompson, briefly tells us about the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Fellowship. This includes, the relevant detail on the day to day exposure and responsibilities of the fellow, including the number of theatre and clinic sessions per week, the expected/planned involvement in the on-call/OOH cover, and the expected number of cases over the fellowship and of what type.

The role is varied. It includes inpatient care and leading ward rounds; five theatre sessions per week; two cinic sessions per week (as well as a consultant teaching clinic); teaching and research opportunities; course faculty opportunities; weekly tracheostomy rounds; 1 in 7 OOH SpR On Call rota (covering Royal Liverpool Hospital too). I expect to attain 300 cases in 12 months (Routine + Emergency + Advanced paed ENT)
